Unexpected number 84 and holidays!

Hi All,
I guess we are all expecting this time of the year, when holidays are coming. Yes, of course, like every single being, I need some time to rest, relax and take it easy. Well, thing is that I'm not in vacation yet, but we are heading to France the 22nd of July for three weeks, and I basically do not have time to maintain "Chris Photo Nature" until then or to visit your blog.
There are several reasons for that, the first one being that the summer arrived in Iceland... Yeh yeh I promise, it is true, 25°C yesterday, so hot that we are all tan!!! The second being that I'm organizing our holidays as I said before.

Because this is the last post before end of August, I decided to do it quite long, with many pictures I've been taking this last week in the sun... Sorry for those of you who do not like to read long post but at least you have a complete month to read it. If I'm not too lazy and if I get gorgeous pictures in France (and if I have internet connection), then I might post some of my pictures during the vacation! Of course, I'm not gonna go to holidays without my camera and lying down on the floor, maybe I'll even get my feet wet :-)

J'imagine que chacun d'entre nous attends cette période avec impatience, vous savez, quand les vacances approchent! Biensûr, comme tout le monde, j'ai besoin de moments de relaxation, et calme au soleil, de boire un bon pastis sous l'ombre d'un parasol, les pieds en éventail :-) Le fait est que je ne suis en vacances qu'à partir du 22 juillet, mais mon temps libre fonds comme neige au soleil et je n'ai plus de temps pour maintenir "Chris Photo Nature" avant mon retour de vacances. Plusieurs raisons pour expliquer cela, la première étant que l'été, le vrai est arrivé en Islande (tout comme les touristes)... Si si je le jure, 25°C hier et un superbe soleil. Nous sommes tous bronzés! Deuxière raison, j'essaie de m'organiser des moments observations nature en France.

Comme ce sera le dernier message avant fin août, probablement, je vais le faire assez long et vais vous donner de la lecture et des images, images faites cette dernière semaine. Désolé pour ceux qui n'aiment pas lire de longs messages, mais bon, vous avez un mois pour le lire. Si je ne suis pas trop fainéant, je posterai des photos de France si j'en ai des méga-superbes. Ben oui, je ne vais pas partir en vacances sans mon équipement et sans me coucher par terre, et éventuellement, je vais même peut être revenir les pieds mouillés!


The first pictures I want to show you, are, of course, some golden plover images I took in the evening sun around the Ulfarsa river.

Biensûr, les premières images que je veux vous montrer sont celles de mon ami le pluvier doré, ici prises au soleil de 22h00 autour de la rivière Ulfarsa.

Well. Some time, you see species that you do not even expect to see in the area, and that was the case few days ago. I saw the species number 84 for this year, and I did not expect this one at all. Although I knew that they are some in Iceland, I thought I had to go out of Reykjavík area to see it, but no, it was just in the Ulfarsa area again. This is quite a good spot! So, the species number 84 was a short-eared owl. Quite a bad picture, because it was far away, but it is just to show you. I have now reached 103 species in Iceland.

Parfois, la nature nous offre ses surpises de facon inattendue, et nous voyons des espèces que nous n'avions pas imaginer voir dans le coin. Ce fût le cas il y a quelques jours, où j'ai pu voir l'espèce numéro 84 pour l'année, à Ulfarsa encore! Et je ne m'y attendais pas du tout. Je savais qu'il y en avait en Islande, mais je m'attendais à être obligé de sortir de Reykjavík pour les voir. Mais non, ce hibou des marais a montré le bout de son nez autour de la rivière, qui, finalement, semble être un très bon site pour la vie à plumes. Voilà, c'est aussi la 103 espèces que j'ai vues en Islande.

Ok, I'm not gonna stop there, I told you it's going to be the longest post ever. The same evening I saw this guy, I went to the beach close by (I was following the owl), and of course, I also saw something that you might never see on THIS beach, a great northern diver. Remember we went to the north of the country to see it! Plus a baby northern wheather, later on.

Ben je vous ai dit que ce serait un long message. Le même soir, je suis descendu à la plage en bas de la maison, car je suivait le hibou en voiture (il ne s'est jamais reposé), et j'ai biensûr vu une espèce que l'on y voit jamais, le plongeon imbrin. Rappelez vous, nous sommes allés au nord du pays pour être sûr de le voir! Puis, plus tard, quelques petits traquet motteux se montrent.

I'm not gonna live in holidays without showing you how the nature looks like in Iceland now. Here are some flowers that I took yesterday evening.

I guess I can also show you more bird pictures taken these last days in Ulfarsa.
